And now the bad news…

Well, Im now ashamed because this blog have turned into a whether dissaster blog, first Gustav, later Ike and now (You don´t gonna belive me)

A ligthning strike the cisco routers of the central node in my college during a local ray storm only few minutes after posting here the comment: ¨unless something happen that let me isolated form internet…¨

 Yes, is funny and terrible but Im having the worst season of the year.Im quite uninformed of what Matt and Daniel have done.

@Matt Ebb and Daniel Genrich: Please write me to these mail farsthary84ATno$pamgmailDOTcom that I could not check so often but will do the job while the other get fixed. Im waiting instruction, even if I could do little you know you have my will to go.  🙂

Nothing, I hope the Autodesk guru guys let me be, im just a small guy. 🙂

Some anouncement…

Hi there!

Before the bad news here I show the video I was rendering before the hurricane Gustav: a video with the BLI_turbulence function advected with trilinear interpolation, soon I´ll finish tricubic interpolation for smothed renderings

And the anouncement is that I will make a last release of this line of development with some things fixed plus smoke and fire for those impatients for the job of Matt Ebb and Daniel Genrich. This release will be also for make publically my last code that although not get integrated could be usefull to someone some day.

I have no planed date now, but will be soon, while I receive from Matt instructions to move foward.

My little promise…

Hi all:

Unless something happen and I get isolated from the internet or I have no time (Never say never) my little promess with blender is that as long as I can I will be developing or experimenting something for it.

There´s to much out there, to much the 3D world have accomplished rigth now and to much to learn and I will be trying to implement as I learn new things to blender. Currently im focused on volumetrics and the experience and knowledge I gain from this project will make easier to tackle another ones, especially in the Render area.

May be some day the render API will get finished and we could easily plug whathever advanced render out there exist but it will no harm to have a powerfull render in our house as the blender render engine 🙂

So there´s a lot to do.

Nature strike twice!

Hi all!

This time is about the hurricane Ike, that till yesterday was giving torrencial rains over my country and curiously follow the same path as Gustav over my province Pinar del Rio, luckly this was only of 1rs category. Nothing compare tho Gustav but this one do bring rains, that Gustav dosent. As someone say: Its ironical that Im developing volumetrics and nature strike me with some of the most powerful manifestation of volumetrics. But dont worry, Im taking the (powerless ) nights to do some candle/paper programing, as the old times 🙂

this only means more days without electricity, im writting from my college but I cannot work from there 😦

Hope things get better in the comming weeks. I want to send a message to all the comunity and friends that Im save, and  for many hurricane (and volumetric manifestations 🙂 ) that strike me it will not bring my will down 🙂

Volumetrics, a new way

Hi all!

Recently I have comunicated with Matt Ebb and Daniel Genrich to get Volumetric branch integrated into blender, and the feedback was awesome!
Rather than trying (as was my first intention) to develop a full volumetric code that cover to much areas and then integrate it (that could lead to unmaintanable code as the project growth , hidden buggs ,a step learning curve for users and a difficult integration ) its better to integrate first a simplified but stable and very common used part of volumetrics  as a first stage (procedurals,smoke and fire), and once it get its way into blender version, in later version continue adding well tested features, as many big projects gets done. Matt Ebb has done a rewrite from scratch of the volumetric code to a more elegant and physic based one (really a BIG contribution since i’ve being working in an abstract way that are difficult to understand) and Daniel are willing to help in the physic part of voluemtric simulation,   although Im quite uninformated now I want to say that as soon as I get the electricity power on my house back.

But dont’t worry because all the features I promess sooner or later will get integrated, its just that in orther to everything work properly without to much impact to users/blender code things have to be done step by step.
I will readapt my workflow to follow those brilliant minded developers and friends!

Note: Im now very impacient for start again 🙂

Hi all!

Remember when I said that everything could happen in this side of the world?, well recently the hurricane Gustav literally devastate my province and my town. The Hurricane have winds of 340 km/h , imagine that in a town with the majority of the houses of wood and roofs of brick. This was the strongest hurricane in the world, the wind speed devices where broken, the barometers stop counting atmospheric pressure because it reach the lower. This was something hystorical and I testified it in the portal of my house. Trees of centuries where ripped off the ground like grass. Luckly in cuba there where no death. In my house I have no electricity since the saturday, and I will not have untill a week. there’s no telling the magnitude of the dissaster, although it have its beauty:  In no film you will see something like that, nature allways let special Fxs pale in compare to it migth.

The bad news for you are that it will slow my development, before Gustav I was preparing for show a high resolution smoke simulation with the BLI_turbulence noise function that was honestly beautifull (with self shadows also) but it will have to wait until I recover electricity.

my roof top partially blow away and everything inside my house get wet, so I will be busy with my familly in the reconstruction phase.

Its sad, because many things that you kept during your life could get lost in no time, and many plans you have for the future simply blow away with the wind. And luckly I didn’t lost so much compared to other people: many of then literally lost everything…

My best friend, lost his house and because of that he leave to other town to live, so I also lost a friend…

But I have hope, sooner or later things will recover its normal path and after all, hurricanes are very common here and we have in general very little to lose (exept our lives).

So dont worry if I seems to not answer mails, im here, just off…
