During past week I was in the UCI college (University of Informatics Sciences), The most important college of its kind in Cuba with around 10000 students of informatics engineering. This time I was invited by a group of them that use blender for its projects and I was amazed: They are very enthusiastic and have a lot of plans for future projects with blender as the main core, even they plan to build up there a full renderfarm!
They have a project FreeViUx (Free Videos using Linux) that are very promissing 🙂
I give a conference about blender,volumetrics,the 3D industry today and the future.
I leave there convinced that the blender comunity inside UCI will grow even more in near future and lots of cool projects will be born there, among them the proper foundation of a Cuban Blender Comunity.
Now Im back at home, and back again on volumetrics… Cheers to all and I leave you with a picture of those young blender pilars in Cuba!

With the recent support recived I have writed a new page: Supporters. I have to remark that the blender comunity is unique, Is so altruist that someone make a sacrifice for a developer in need.
Its true that comercial apps have payed developers that could earn a fortune, but that salary miss the human touch of someone, completely unknown to you before, that perhaps have to make a bigger sacrifice to give you something, that’s why developing for the blender comunity is so much more rewarding. Even a simple: -hi,I just want to thank you for your work- counts a lot a do make a difference.
Im sure there’s a lot of more people that have contributed and helped me to reach this stage near finishing my thesis project but by no means Im finishing my blender development: Im just begining 🙂 🙂 🙂

After many days in dark im back with new forces, In those dark days Ive being experimenting and researching with vortex methods and finally I have fruits! Ive developed a hybrid velocity-vortex method that allows me simulated rapid violent fires and ripping smokes. Take a look at the video.
Since vorticity confinement tend to dissapear as grid resolution increase it became clear that I need a new method, but existent vortex-particle discretization where not suited to me, so I developed a full semilagrangian hybrid velocity-vorticity for it, expect paper soon 🙂

Some test with unstable fluids have showed me that unstability is not necesary bad, could be used for some interesting special effects!
